Baby Friendly Hospitals

"Baby-Friendly" is a nationally recognized designation created by the World Health Organization and UNICEF (the United Nations' International Children's Emergency Fund). Hospitals that fulfill the initiative's ten minimum steps are awarded the "Baby-Friendly" designation. There are only 63 officially Baby-Friendly hospitals and birth centers throughout the US! This is striking considering there are over 19,000 Baby-Friendly hospitals in the rest of the world (6,500 in China!).
